Museum Robbery in Europe: Can Museums Stop Failing?
Another museum was robbed in Europe.
The funniest part of this story is that the museum administration said they had a detailed security plan for the exhibition — a plan that apparently didn’t include the possibility that art thieves could simply come in and break a glass window.
Every time something like this happens, I ask myself: do we still need museums or not?
Of course we do. But at the same time, we’re risking losing more and more art because museums often can’t protect it properly.
You know I have an anti-capitalist art collection, but in this case I’d almost prefer all the art to be sold to local billionaires who at least have enough money to protect it from us — visitors, art lovers, and, apparently, thieves.
Welcome to the reality where art loses again, and capitalism wins.
